THINKINC.

Fighting for Care During a Pandemic

In March 2021 and December 2020, Thinkinc. worked with Kenwood Oakland Community Organization (KOCO) to draw media attention to their protest against the closing of Mercy Hospital. KOCO gave voice to nearby low-income and working families who demanded the hospital remained open during the COVID-19 pandemic, which disproportionately impacted people of color.

Thinkinc. worked quickly to develop a media advisory and called journalists directly. Our work attracted significant coverage of the protest and news conference from many broadcast, print and online media outlets. As the fight goes on, KOCO is making sure that the people affected most are being heard. See the Chicago Sun-Timescoverage and an on-scene report from ABC-7 News in March 2021. See WGN-9’s TV coverage from December 2020.
